This 1967 nautical chart of San Luis Obispo Bay and Port San Luis, California, is U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey chart 5386, drawn at 1:20,000 with soundings in feet. Taupe hills fold steeply down to a rocky shore, where pale grey-blue shallows bristle with small kelp marks and the open water beyond stays white.
Lettered on the sheet are Avila Beach, Port San Luis, the County Wharf, Point San Luis, San Luis Hill, Bald Knob, Fossil Point and San Luis Obispo Creek, with Smith Island, Whaler Island, Pecho Rock, Avila Rock, White Rock, Bird Rock, Souza Rock and Santa Rosa Reef. The Point San Luis light is listed with its diaphone, and a fish hopper is marked in the bay between Port San Luis and Avila Beach.
