This twentieth-century nautical chart of Nantucket Island, Massachusetts, is numbered 265 and drawn on a Mercator projection at 1:40,000 with soundings in feet at mean low water. The island sits in a field of shoals and pale water. Warm olive land and soft gray water give the sheet the calm, practical look of a working mariner's chart.
Lettered on the sheet are Nantucket Sound, Nantucket Island, Tuckernuck Island, Muskeget Island, Madaket Harbor, Head of the Harbor, Sankaty Head and Tom Nevers Head. Shoals and passages including Cross Rip Channel, Norton Shoal, Tuckernuck Shoal, Great Round Shoal Channel and Miacomet Rip are lettered offshore. Four compass roses stand over the water, and anchorage areas and tidal notes fill the lower left.
Printed on 325gsm museum-grade archival matte paper using fade-resistant giclée printing with archival inks, ensuring your vintage nautical chart will maintain its maritime heritage for generations.
Colors may vary slightly between screens and the finished piece — the print will always be richer.
Our prints are produced to museum standards. Each piece is printed on premium heavyweight archival matte paper (325gsm), the same quality used in museums and galleries, giving rich color, deep blacks, and excellent detail.
