This vintage lunar study shows the full disc of the Moon, hand sketched circa 1764 according to the title. The drawing renders the surface in fine grey linework and tone, set on a dark ground in a square format.
The Moon fills the sheet as a single round disc. Broad dark maria lie across the upper and left parts of the face, and pale craters with bright rays spread outward across the lower half. Fine hatching and stippling build the shadows along the edges of the disc, and the charcoal ground sets the full Moon against a plain black square.
Printed on 325gsm museum-grade archival matte paper using fade-resistant giclée printing with archival inks, preserving the detail and character of the original for generations.
Colors may vary slightly between screens and the finished piece — the print will always be richer.
Our prints are produced to museum standards. Each piece is printed on premium heavyweight archival matte paper (325gsm), the same quality used in museums and galleries, giving rich color, deep blacks, and excellent detail.
