This 1966 nautical chart of Boothbay Harbor to Bath, Maine, including the Kennebec River, is U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey chart 230, drawn on a Mercator projection at 1:15,000 with soundings in feet at mean low water. Stone-taupe land, crowded with contour lines and sage-grey marsh, splits into long fingers of island and neck, and white channels edged in pale blue shallows thread between them to the sea.
Lettered on the sheet are Bath, Woolwich, Boothbay Harbor, West Boothbay Harbor, Southport, Westport, Robinhood and MacMahan, with the Kennebec, Sheepscot, Sasanoa, Back and Cross Rivers, Hockomock Bay, Montsweag Bay, Knubble Bay and Townsend Gut. Georgetown, Arrowsic, Westport and Southport Islands crowd between the rivers. A tide table gives the rise at Boothbay Harbor, Bath and Mill Point on the Sasanoa River, and a note sends racing sailors to the Notices to Mariners for the racing buoys.
