This vintage patent drawing captures the velocipede — the pioneering early bicycle that set the world in motion around 1870. Often nicknamed the “boneshaker” for its rigid iron-banded wooden wheels and unforgiving ride over cobblestone streets, the velocipede placed its pedals directly on the front wheel, a bold mechanical leap that bridged the hobby-horse of earlier decades and the chain-driven safety bicycles still to come.
The technical drawing strips the machine to its essential geometry — the framework, wheel proportions, and pedal-crank arrangement that made self-propelled travel possible for the first time. International Orders – For international customers, we offer the "Print Only" option to ensure faster delivery and reduce shipping costs. International orders may take 2–3 weeks for delivery due to customs processes. Please note that clients are responsible for any customs fees. Returns
We want you to be fully satisfied with your artwork. If you feel your art isn’t the right fit for your home, you may initiate a return within 14 days of purchase. We’ll provide a full refund, and U.S. clients will receive a prepaid return label. For international returns, clients are responsible for return shipping costs, with a full refund provided upon receipt of the return.
