This print reproduces Planisphaerium Arateum, Andreas Cellarius's 1660 chart of the classical constellations in a celestial planisphere. The engraved plate keeps its diagram, Latin lettering, ornamental figures and delicate hand-colored detail.
An outer ring in olive and lilac carries small round medallions of human and animal figures, with pale green orbit paths and planets around a central figure. Scholars with globes stand at the lower corners beside a town wall, and cherubs fly across the blue sky above.
Printed on 325gsm museum-grade archival matte paper using fade-resistant giclée printing with archival inks, preserving the detail and character of the original for generations.
Colors may vary slightly between screens and the finished piece — the print will always be richer.
Our prints are produced to museum standards. Each piece is printed on premium heavyweight archival matte paper (325gsm), the same quality used in museums and galleries, giving rich color, deep blacks, and excellent detail.
